How I Have Grown Since Starting My Masters In Educational Technology

I was a quitter.  Whenever I ran into a program or procedure that took me more than lazy-manthirty seconds to figure out, I’d quit.  How could I ever figure out Instagram?  I should just give up!  Make a web page? Nah. . .the learning curve is too long.  Twitter?  That one can just keep flying by because I’m a digital immigrant and I don’t speak the language.  Others can upload to Youtube, I’ll just watch what they post!  Using new functions on Word beyond the usual formatting and saving? Bleh.  Too much work.

Enter APU and my online Masters in Educational Technology.  You’re cornered.  You have to try.  It’ll fall together one discovery at a time.  Hey, I just learned what the chain means and now I can link URL’s anytime I see that image!  I can better cut and paste, insert and create videos, make my notes and videos fun and engaging!  I’m getting powerful!

Today I had to do some end-of-the-year finances.  Several months ago I did my Flexible Spending reimbursement documentation the hard way.  I used the online form, printed it out, made xerox copies of my receipts, filled in the blanks, waited for my wife to come home and sign it, and then we faxed the entire multi-page document to the company, in spite of several fax jams.

Today I got bold, scanned the receipts, filled in the expenses in an online form, uploadedSuperman-superman-the-movie-20439214-1600-1200 the scans, and submitted the entire amount with one click!  I save gobs of time, but it all came from the decision to attack the beast and overcome my mental laziness and get it done!  I am a champion!
